Ray Perren serves as president of East Central Technical College. Prior
to his selection as president in early 2006, Dr. Perren served as Dean of
Academic Affairs at DeVry
University. A lifelong educator, Dr. Perren's career includes
assignments as a teacher, principal, curriculum director, assistant
superintendent, and superintendent of schools. He has also served as Senior
Project Management Coordinator with the State of Georgia, Department of
Administrative Services.
Dr. Perren earned the degree of Bachelor of Science in Education from the
University of Georgia, the
degrees of Master of Education and Specialist in Education from what is now
The University of West
Georgia, and the degree of Doctor of Strategic Leadership from
Regent University in
Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Dr. Perren's career interests include servant leadership, educational
administration and supervision, educational policy, instructional design and
improvement, budgeting, and educational facilities. He served as
Superintendent of Schools for
Paulding County,
Georgia during the late 1990s. At that time Paulding County was the sixth
fastest growing county in the nation with 21 schools housing 15,000
students. As Dean of Academic Affairs for DeVry University, Dr. Perren was
responsible for the academic operations of two campuses and seven centers
serving over 5,100 students in Georgia and North Carolina.
A native of Villa Rica,
Georgia, Dr. Perren currently resides in Douglas. He and his wife Joy
are the parents of six children.
