The first step to apply for all financial aid is to complete an ECTC
Financial Aid Application. This application is required to be
renewed yearly. To apply for federal aid, students must complete the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. The Financial Aid
Technician or a Career Planner will help students complete this form. The
ECTC Federal School Code is 010436.
The FAFSA form requires the following income documentation be provided.
Income documentation includes any/all of the following which apply:
- Signed copies of the past year's income tax return (1040EZ, 1040A, or 1040
along with W-2 forms)
- Social Security awards
- TANF information from the Department of Family and Children Services
- Child Support payments (received)
- Workers' compensation payments, veterans benefits, etc.
- Balance of cash, savings, and checking accounts
- Current value of stocks, bonds, and investments
If the student is under age 24, a non-veteran, unmarried,
and without dependents, then the income information of the student's
parents will also be required. |
The student mails the completed application form to the processing center.
Within four to six weeks, the student will receive a Student Aid Report
(SAR) from the processing center. The Financial Aid office is set up to
process applications electronically, which shortens the response time
from 4-6 weeks to only 1 or 2 weeks.
Students must reapply for federal aid after January 1 each year to
receive financial aid for the next academic fiscal year. The
fiscal year academic calendar is July 1 - June 30.
It is the policy of the Financial Aid Office at East Central
Technical College to verify all Student Aid Reports (SARs) selected by the
Department of Education for verification. Additionally, the Financial
Aid Office may also select students for verification who were not selected
by the Department of Education.
Application forms and further information, including assistance in
completion of forms, is available Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m.
to 9:00 p.m. and from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Fridays in the Financial
Aid and/or Admissions Office. Students may also apply for federal aid
online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
