Program Description

The Air Conditioning Technology program is a sequence of courses that prepares students for careers in the air conditioning industry. Learning opportunities develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes a combination of air conditioning theory and practical application necessary for successful employment. Program graduates receive an Air Conditioning Technology diploma and have the qualifications of an entry-level air conditioning technician.

Length of Program

A total of 85 credit hours is required for graduation. A full-time student could expect to complete the program in five quarters. Completion time for part-time students will depend upon course load taken.

Campus Location

The Air Conditioning Technology diploma is offered on the Coffee Campus and new students are accepted each quarter.

Employment Opportunities

With a still-developing industrial market, Georgia’s need for technically trained, skilled personnel continues to expand. The area of heating and air conditioning is among the fastest growing in the region, resulting from increases in industrial growth and home building. Renovation and standard maintenance requirements also call for large numbers of trained technicians.

Salary Range

The average annual salary range for Air Conditioning Technology graduates is $17,000 to $30,000.

Personal Characteristics

To succeed in the air conditioning field, an individual should be prepared to work outdoors as well as indoors, have the ability to pay attention to details and follow projects through to completion, possess decision making skills, be prepared to upgrade skills to meet industry changes, and possess very strong customer service skills.
