Program Description

The Administrative Office Technology Associate Degree program is designed to prepare students for a variety of employment positions in today’s administrative and business fields. Learning opportunities develop both academic and professional knowledge and skills needed for successful job acquisition, retention, and career advancement. This program provides extensive training in the areas of accounting, office/business organizations, computer applications software, human relations, and business principles. The Administrative Office Technology Associate Degree also provides opportunities to upgrade present knowledge and skills or to retrain in the areas of administrative office technology. Upon completion of word processing students will take the Microsoft Certification Exam to achieve their Microsoft Office Specialist certification. This certification, which is industry recognized, proves their competence in using the Microsoft word processing program.

Length of Program

A minimum of 100 credit hours is required for graduation. A full-time student could expect to complete the program in six quarters. The entire AOT degree is available online.

Campus Location

The AOT degree is offered quarterly.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of the program receive an Administrative Office Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree and are qualified for employment as office managers, administrative assistants, and executive secretaries in law, education, and technical areas as well as governmental agencies.

Salary Range

The average salary range for AOT graduates is $20,000 to $46,000.
  

Personal Characteristics

To be successful in the AOT program and as an office professional, a person should enjoy working with computer applications programs, desire to work indoors on a daily basis in an office setting, have the capability to multi-task, be able to spend long periods of time at a desk, possess decision making and problem solving skills, and have strong communication and customer service skills.

Entrance Requirements
Required Age: 16 years of age or older
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Placement exam required.
