Basic Marine Engine Technician

Program Description

The purpose of the Basic Marine Engine Technician technical certificate is to provide training opportunities for persons to gain entry-level employment in marine engine repair. Courses in the technical certificate program provide both classroom and hands-on learning in the areas of safety, concepts of marine engine shop operations, two-stroke engine theory and applications, electrical theory and applications, fuel systems, and marine outboard gear cases.

Length of Program A total of 28 credit hours is required for program completion. A part-time student could complete this program in five quarters. Campus Location The Basic Marine Engine Technician technical certificate is offered on the Ben Hill-Irwin campus.   Employment Opportunities Program completers may obtain employment as entry-level technicians in the marine engine repair field. Entrance Requirements Required Age: 16 Placement exam required.		Curriculum
