Program Description

This diploma program will prepare students for a career in broadband technologies and will provide them with a variety of employment opportunities in the growing field of broadband communications. Throughout their program of study, students will gain broad academic and multi-disciplinary education that will help prepare them for careers as installers, service technicians, and networking technicians. The students will have an understanding of broadband networks, installation and service procedures as well as the triple-play services offered by most service providers. The graduates will have the hands-on skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in this rapidly expanding technological field.

Length of Program

A minimum of 92 credit hours is required for graduation. A full-time student could expect to complete the program in five to six quarters.

Campus Location

The Convergent Technology diploma is offered  quarterly on the Ben Hill-Irwin campus.
 

Employment Opportunities

The need for well-trained and qualified technicians will continue to increase as more broadband services become available. Most providers are experiencing growth as packaged services including video, voice and data are being offered to consumers.

Salary Range
The average salary range for Convergent Telecommunications graduates is $25,000-$42,000.
 

Entrance Requirements
Required Age: 16 years of age or older
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Placement exam required.
