Program Description

This diploma program will prepare students for a career in wireless technologies and will provide them with a several employment opportunities. Throughout their program of study, students will gain broad academic and multi-disciplinary education that will help prepare them for careers as cell-site installers and service technicians. They will develop an understanding of the telecommunications and wireless networks in use today along with the 3G networks of the future. The graduates will have the hands-on skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in this growing field of communications.

Length of Program

A minimum of 92 credit hours is required for graduation. A full-time student could expect to complete the program in five to six quarters.

Campus Location

The Convergent Technology diploma is offered  quarterly on the Ben Hill-Irwin campus.
 

Employment Opportunities

The need for well-trained and qualified technicians will continue to increase in the field of wireless communications as service providers continue to experience growth thus increasing the need for more installers and service technicians. In addition, many service providers are redeploying and upgrading their networks to deliver 3G technologies


Salary Range

The average salary range for Convergent Telecommunications graduates is $25,000-$42,000.
 

Entrance Requirements
Required Age: 16 years of age or older
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Placement exam required.
