Program Description

The Electrical Construction and Maintenance diploma program is a high technology training program designed to prepare students for careers in residential, industrial, and commercial electrical industries. Students will be provided with academic and hands-on training in the areas of residential and commercial sites, single and three-phase motors, variable speed controls, and other applications governed by the National Electrical Code. Learning opportunities assist students in the development of academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills required for success in today’s electrical field.

Length of Program

A total of 72 credit hours is required for graduation. A full-time student could expect to complete the program in four quarters. Completion time for part-time students will depend upon course load taken.

Campus Location

The Electrical Construction and Maintenance diploma is offered on the Coffee Campus and new students are accepted during spring and fall quarters.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates from this program are prepared for entry-level employment as commercial electricians, residential electricians, maintenance electricians, or maintenance trainees in government, public utility companies, and private industry.

Salary Range

The average annual salary range for Electrical Construction and Maintenance graduates is $17,000 to $32,000.

Personal Characteristics

To succeed in the Electrical Construction and Maintenance field, individuals must be willing to work in all environments and to work with others in confined areas, be able to multi-task, pay attention to detail, and to be very safety conscious for self, others, and property. They should also be prepared to upgrade skills to meet industry changes and possess strong customer service skills.
