Program Description

The purpose of the Forensic Analyst Specialist technical certificate is to provide training opportunities for persons to gain employment or increase their knowledge in this growing field and provide opportunities for advancement. Courses in the technical certificate provide classroom and hands-on learning in the areas of crime scene investigation and the analysis and collection of evidence. The course will include instruction in blood splatter analysis; DNA collection and theory; crime scene photography and development; and fingerprint collection, classification, and identification.

Length of Program

A total of 33 credit hours is required for program completion.  A full-time student can complete the program in three quarters.

The Forensic Analyst Specialist certificate program is offered on the Ben Hill-Irwin, Coffee, Wilcox, and Pearson campuses.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of the program will be prepared for employment in various careers in the area of local responders including the police departments, Sheriffs Departments, fire departments, and even the healthcare industry.

Entrance Requirements*

Minimum Age: 18
High School Diploma or GED
Placement exam required.

*All applicants will be required to have a criminal background check. A failure to submit to a check or failing the background check will exclude the student from participating in internships and may prevent the student from gaining employment in this field.
