Program Description

The Industrial Systems Technology diploma program is a high technology program that teaches the fundamental technical skills needed to install, program, troubleshoot, and repair sophisticated industrial control systems. This program provides training for success and advancement in a rapidly changing career field. Application, attitudes, and knowledge are key factors for success in this program. Receiving hands-on training and using industrial grade equipment help our graduates achieve success in today’s high tech industrial plants. Graduates from this program are prepared for entry-level employment as industrial systems technicians, industrial electricians, and I & E technicians.

Length of Program

A minimum of 90 credit hours is required for graduation. A full-time student can complete the Industrial Systems Technology program in six quarters.

Campus Location

The Industrial Systems Technology program is offered quarterly on the Ben Hill-Irwin campus. Day and night classes are available.

Employment Opportunities

The Industrial Systems Technology program is a specialized training program that provides the student with the knowledge and skills to become a competent industrial systems technician, industrial electrician, or I & E technician. Important attributes of successful program graduates are logical thinking, problem solving, and applying both knowledge and skill to the work requirement. Employment opportunities in South Georgia are excellent. Many graduates have advanced into management positions after only a few years on the job.

Salary Range

The average annual salary range for Industrial Systems Technology graduates is $21,000 - $33,000.

Personal Characteristics

To succeed in the Industrial Systems Technology program and in the maintenance field, a person should enjoy working with his or her hands, have good problem solving skills, and be able to work with a team.
