Program Description
The purpose of the Low Voltage Technician technical certificate
is to provide training opportunities for persons to gain
entry-level employment in the field of low voltage systems
including voice and data, security, fire alarms, CCTV, access
control, and intercom systems. Courses in the technical
certificate provide both classroom and hands-on learning in the
areas of safety, low voltage cabling, grounding and bonding,
security and fire alarm system installation and service, access
control installation, and CCTV installation and service.

Length of Program
A total of 32 credit hours is required
for completion. A part-time student enrolled two nights a
week could complete this program in five quarters.
Campus Location
The Low Voltage Technician Certificate
is offered on the Ben Hill-Irwin campus.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates are able to seek full-time
employment with electrical companies, interconnect telephony
companies, and low voltage contractors. Upon passing the
state low voltage licensure test, graduates could begin
their own business in the low voltage industry.
Entrance Requirements
Required Age: 16 years of age or older
Placement exam required.
