Program Description
This technical certificate will provide the skills needed by
workers who will assist nurses in hospitals and medical offices.
Graduates will be competent in medical office skills such as
keyboarding, using the computer for common document processing,
answering the telephone, scheduling, triaging, charting, setting
priorities, and other similar multi-tasking roles. In addition,
they will be proficient in clinical skills such as taking blood
pressures, temperatures, pulses, and respirations; bed-making;
performing CPR and first aid; controlling infection through
sterile procedures; lifting; operating and caring for equipment;
catheterizing; and giving personal patient care.

Length of Program
A total of 30 credit hours is required for completion of
this technical certificate. A full-time student could
complete course requirements in two quarters; a part-time
student in four.

Coffee and Ben Hill-Irwin campuses.

Entrance Requirements
Required Age: 16 years of age or older
Signed health documents documenting:
Student can lift or position 100 pounds
Students test negative on TB test
Drug screening required prior to clinicals
Placement exam required.
