Program Description

Emergency medical services have long demanded the specialized skills carried by paramedics. This program prepares students to work in this capacity in medical emergencies served primarily by ambulances. Classroom instruction is focused on a thorough knowledge of the human body, medicines and dosages, cardiac and respiratory distress, and care of patients in trauma and maternal/pediatric emergencies. Classroom instruction is reinforced with clinical practice in advanced emergency care. Individuals entering the Paramedic Technology program must be certified as a Basic EMT and satisfactorily complete a physical examination.

Length of Program

A minimum of 78 credit hours is required for graduation. A part-time student could expect to complete the program in six quarters.

Campus Location

The Paramedic Technology diploma is offered on the Coffee campus.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of the program receive a Paramedic Technology diploma and are qualified for employment as paramedics.

Salary Range

The average annual salary range for Paramedic Technology graduates is $25,000 to $45,000.  


Personal Characteristics

To succeed in the Paramedic Technology program a student must enjoy a fast-paced medical environment. Individuals able to deal with crisis situations should succeed in the Paramedic program.

Entrance Requirements

Required Age: 18 years of age or older
Education: High School Diploma or GED
