Program Description
This technical certificate provides classroom instruction and
hands-on training in the area of patient care. The program
includes the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course as
approved by the Georgia Medical Care Foundation, as well as
training in areas such as psycho-social needs of patients, work
ethics, communications, infection control, patient hygiene,
nourishment, taking vital signs, caring for the cognitively
impaired, coping with death and dying, and basic nursing skills.
Students complete their course of study with clinical experience
in nursing homes or other health-related settings while under
the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical
nurse.

Length of Program
A total of 16 credit hours
is required for completion of this technical certificate. A full-time
day student could expect to complete the program in two
quarters.

This technical certificate is offered on
the Coffee, Ben Hill-Irwin, and Wilcox campuses.
Entrance Requirements
Required Age: 16 years of age or older
Signed health document documenting:
-Student can lift or position 100 pounds
-Student tests negative on TB test
Drug screening required prior to clinicals
