Program
Description
The Pharmacy Assistant Technical Certificate is designed to
provide students with short-term training to prepare them for
entry-level employment in a variety of settings such as
hospitals, retail pharmacies, nursing homes, medical clinics,
etc. They will receive training in anatomy and physiology,
fundamental concepts and principles of the pharmaceutical field,
drug calculation and administration, and principles of
receiving, storing, and dispensing medications. In addition a
short internship will provide students with supervised hands-on
training at an approved clinical site.

Length of Program
A total of 33 hours is required for completion. A full-time
student could expect to complete the program in two
quarters. A part-time student enrolled two nights a week can
expect to complete the program in four quarters.
Campus Location
The Pharmacy Assisting
certificate is offered on the Ben Hill-Irwin and Coffee Campuses.
Employment
Opportunities
Graduates may seek
employment as pharmacy assistants in hospitals, retail
pharmacies, nursing homes, medical clinics, etc.
Entrance Requirements
Required Age: 16 years of age or older
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Placement exam required.
