Program Description

With the increased interest in Homeland Security issues and the need for trained and qualified law enforcement personnel on the increase, the Public Safety Assistant TCC was identified as a program of study that would be ideal for high school dual enrollment programs. Articulated core courses allow for 50% of the program to be articulated while the remaining three courses would help the student identify which area of public safety he or she would be best suited, Fire Science, EMS, or Criminal Justice.

Length of Program

A total of 26 credit hours is required for program completion.  A part-time student can complete the program in three quarters by attending classes two nights a week.

Campus Location

The Public Safety Assistant certificate program is offered on the Ben Hill-Irwin, Coffee, Wilcox, and Pearson campuses.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of the Public Safety Assistant technical certificate program are prepared for entry-level positions in Fire Science, EMS, or Criminal Justice.

Entrance Requirements

Minimum Age: 16
Placement exam required.
