How do I know if I am ready to take courses online?

Take the READI assessment now.

How do I log on to Blackboard?

1. Go to the internet and type in http://gvtc7.blackboard.com.
2. Next, put in your login Username and Password.

Username: 25_student ID of College where you are taking the online course  Example Username - 25_900xxxxxx
Password: 25_student ID of College where you are taking the online course    Example for Password - 25-900xxxxxx

Can I change my password?

Go to Tools, "Personal Information," Change Password. Choose a new password for access to your account.

Can I change my username?

Your username is based on DTAE criteria and cannot be changed.

How can I open PowerPoints, videos, or other media?

Ensure you have all of the needed plugins downloaded before beginning your course.  Get Plugins

I have email, and I am not receiving my instructors' emails.

Many ISPs may filter for junk mail and either place the messages into a folder called "Junk Mail" or delete it immediately. Be sure to take your span blockers off for you Blackboard email and your instructor's email ISP.

While taking a test, I lost the connection. What should I do?

Contact your instructor immediately.

Before you take your test, be sure to allow pop ups and make you're your computer meets Blackboard requirements and your media downloads are complete.

1)   Check your browser - download what you need.

2)   Update your computer.

3)   Allow pop-ups: Tools – Internet Options – Security – Use Pop Up Blocker – Disable

4)   Add site as a trusted site: Tools– Internet Options – Security – Trusted Sites -  type in http://gvtc7.blackboard.com

5)   Ensure you have all of the necessary plugins and media Update plugins/ media.

6)   Delete old files at least once a day:  Control Panel – Internet Options – Delete Browsing History (Temporary Files and Cookies)

I don't see my question here. What should I do ?

Step One: Make sure you are aware of Blackboard computer requirements.

Step Two: If your computer meets all requirements, has pop-ups enabled, and has all media downloads but you are still having trouble accessing areas of your Blackboard course, contact your instructor.

Step Three: If your computer meets all requirements and your instructor is unable to help you with technical support, submit a help request using the Help icon at your Blackboard login screen.   This will notify the ECTC online support.

Step Four: If your computer meets all requirements and your instructor and Online Support have not been able to solve your technical support issues, contact GVTC.
